Our scripture this morning is Psalms 27:1-4.

The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident. The one thing I ask of the Lord— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.

This psalm reminds us that no matter what we face, God is with us. In the early days of faith, the children of Israel met God at Mt. Sinai. Later there was a tent of meeting and after reaching the Promised Land, the temple. This was where they offered sacrifices and worship.

Jesus came as the ultimate sacrifice for sin. For those who followed Him, no further offerings were needed. God came to be with us in the form of His Son, to live with us face to face.

After His resurrection and ascension, He sent the Holy Spirit to be the guide that we need, God’s presence with us always. We can find God wherever we are. He is not contained by a building or a place, He is with us always. We can be confident and joyful in His presence, no matter the location or situation.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the love that will not let us go. We know You listen to our prayers no matter what, no matter where. Bless us to go in Your name to share Your love with the world. Amen.
