Our scripture this morning is Psalms 34:15-18.

The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth. The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

God didn’t just create everything and leave it, He is present in our world and in our lives. David says in this psalm “The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help”. Our creator is aware of our issues and stands ready to help those who honor and obey Him.

However, we are warned that “the Lord turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth”. God wants all of us to be close to Him, but the choice is ours. We must decide to ask His forgiveness and live new lives.

We know we can trust Him and His word is truth. He created us out of love and wants us to share that love with everyone. When we turn to Him in repentance, He refreshes our spirits and sends us to use our gifts for each other.

Loving Lord, we are sorry for the times we choose selfishly and go our own way. Forgive us, strengthen us, and set our feet on the path to eternal life with You. Amen.
