Our scripture this morning is Isaiah 40:28-31.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Have we not heard? Sometimes it seems that way. God has been reaching out to us since we were created and we still don’t seem to hear. However, God is unchanging and His love for us never ends.

God’s unfailing energy in reaching out to His people is shown by creation itself. God has made everything that exists and given it to us, along with the responsibility to care for it. This is far too much for us to do alone; we need His help and guidance.

We are not capable of accomplishing our task by ourselves. We read “youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall.” Even at our very best, our human capability is not enough. Isaiah tells us “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” Only through our connection to Him can we be saved!

Loving Lord, we are weak but You are strong. Thank You for the blessing of forgiveness and Your promise that through Christ we can do all things. Amen.
